Is an A- GPA Good?

An A- is markedly above the national average GPA of a B. This is a highly-regarded GPA. You’ve done well, but you may be able to tighten it up just a bit more.

For high school students

With an A- GPA, you’re eligible to apply to top-tier schools, and you may even be in the running for scholarships. Don’t forget to nurture the extracurricular aspect of your application.

For college students

An A- GPA shows that you are a hard worker who has a strong aptitude in your field. This will serve you well when applying for graduate programs or for employment.

How Can I Raise My GPA?

The higher your GPA gets, the harder it will be to raise it even more. Stay on top of your studies, and concentrate on classes that are giving you the most trouble.

  • When completing assignments, work to gain a solid grasp of the concepts, not just to finish the work.

  • Give yourself time to prepare for tests well in advance.

  • Don’t get complacent. While it’s harder to raise an already high GPA, it’s easier to lower it with careless mistakes.
